Jail
As I wake up I look around and see three white walls and bars where the fourth should be. I have no idea where I am or how I ended up where I did. All I know is that last night was a good night gone bad. I sit up, and walked around the room to try to help myself remember, but nothing is helping. Finally, I think to check my pockets for my cell phone, that might help me remember what happened. I look all through my pockets but instead of finding just a cell phone, I find my drivers license, a five dollar bill, my friends room key, a car key, and my cell phone. I almost never go anywhere without my room key, but right now I have no idea where mine is, and why or how I got my friends. I check my cell phone to see if there are any recent calls or text messages, and thankfully there are. Two messages to my friend saying I didn't feel well, and wanted to leave so I needed the car keys. One missed call from my cousin, and I called my best friend, Ericka, at one in the morning. Seeing the text messages makes me start to remember. Ericka, one of my best friends from back home, invited me and all my friends from school to a party at her new apartment. I remembered grabbing my drivers license, my phone, and some money as we were leaving, but I didn't grab my room key because my roommate stayed back, so she would be there to let me back in. We drove to my friends apartment and we were all fine and were having a great time. Around midnight I started to feel very strange and thought that I was starting to get sick. That's when I texted my friend and ask her where she was so that I could take one of the cars and go back to the dorms. After I finally found her and she gave me the keys, and told me she forgot to lock her room, so she gave me her key and asked if I could do it for her when I got back to the dorms. I told her I could and that I would see her in the morning when they got back form the party. I sat back down on the one single bed that they had in the jail and tried to concentrate. I needed to remember what happened after I said goodbye to her. How did I end up in jail, and why was it so hard for me to remember everything at once? I stared at the car key for a long time going over all scenarios possible that could have happened, until it finally hit me. I am usually a very cautious driver, but my head was foggy and I was having a hard time concentrating. I remember driving down a long dirt road, heading back towards school when all of a sudden I saw something scramble out in front of my car. I slammed on my breaks and tried to swerve but it was too late. Not even a second later I found myself thrown through the front windshield of my car. I rolled across the ground and found myself face down next to another body. This must have been what I saw in front of my car, a middle aged man, wearing all black. In the distance I hear the faint sound of sirens, and after a minute of listening I can hear them getting closer. I picked myself up just in time to see the blue flashing lights approaching. The cops pulled up, followed by an ambulance. After initial examination of the scene, the accident was seen as my fault. The middle aged man was being rushed off to the hospital and the cops told me I had to go with them. So there I was riding in the back of a cop car going towards the police station. Since it was late I was told that I was going to have to spend the night in a holding cell at the station. So there I was, sitting in the jail cell finally piecing the whole night back together. Then I hear a noise behind me and see a cell guard opening up the door. "Come with me" he says, so I oblige. He takes me back into an interview room and sits me down. That's when I find out some disturbing news. It turns out that the man I hit was a convicted felon, and was wanted for numerous crimes. Although the accident was my fault, the man was alive and being treated before being sent to prison, so I was allowed to go home.

DeleteNicely done narrative. Simplistic and to the pointl
ReplyDeleteNice twist with hitting the guy and then him being a criminal!
ReplyDeleteI really like the twist of the story because here im thinking, you did such a horrible act and in the end, something great came out of this act.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this blog. From a readers perspective, it was really easy to follow it through and not be lost. I really don't know how to critique grammar so from what I saw I thought you did very well. Keep it up!!
