Hitchcock's Style
I really enjoy all of Hitchcock's films, and I like them all because they are different then anything that I am used to watching. I love that he uses the props and the setting to let the audience know what is going on. Like in Rear Window one of the first things that you see is the thermometer and you can see how hot it is without them actually talking about it and saying it. You have to pay attention to the background and to what is going on in the film not just what the main characters are doing or saying. Another thing that Hitchcock uses in his films are camera angles and the use of the "birds eye view" and he uses it to show power over people and who has the most power. The way he uses psychology in this films make the characters grow and makes the plots of the stories make more sense to the viewers. The way that the characters act and the situations that they get into make you really think about the back story of their lives. It is known that Hitchcock only wanted skinny, blond, beautiful women in his movies and I don't really understand why he wanted that but it was something that made him unique and you knew that it was a signature thing that he does in his films. Hitchcock also used the reaction shot a lot in his movies instead of using lines, to show you what was happening. He would have a shot at the actor, then a shot of what they were reacting to, and then finally the characters reaction. This made it very clear as to hoe the actor was feeling but they didn't need to say it, Hitchcock was talented enough that he could show it.

narrative
When I was ten years old my whole family and I went to Hawaii over Christmas break. I still remember how excited I was when my grandparents told all of us. I had always wanted to go to Hawaii because my mom lived there for a long time and my aunt was born there. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my entire life. One thing that I have never liked is waking up early in the morning. I am not a morning person and never will be, but waking up early the day of our flight was not a problem at all. I was ready to go as soon as my alarm went off, packed and dressed and out the door as fast as possible. Everyone was ready to go, everyone was so excited. It was a fourteen hour flight, but we got the plane with the TVs and free snacks so it was tolerable. It felt like it took forever to get there because I was so excited, all I could think about was the warm air and how amazing the beaches were going to be. We had our own house that was rented for the week and there was a pool and it was close to the beach so we could be outside and be in the water whenever we wanted. Being there over Christmas break was a little different but it was okay because we got to go surfing on Christmas day, and that is something that will never happen again and not many people get to say that that's what they did Christmas morning. My favorite part about the whole trip was going on a tour of the big island and getting the see all the beaches, and animals, and volcanoes. At one stop on the tour they showed us the black sand beaches, theses beaches were the most beautiful beaches I had ever seen. The sand was so soft and there was white sand mixed in but very faintly so it looked like the beach was sparkling when we pulled up on the bus. Also at this stop we got lucky enough to witness about ten to twenty baby turtles finding their way back to the ocean. They were so tiny I felt like I would break one if I touched it. Some of them flipped over when they were trying to crawl on the sand and we were allowed to flip it back over so it could get safely to the water. It was amazing to see how little they start out and then see how big they become. I really hope that I get the chance to go back to Hawaii one day, it was an amazing experience and they also have the very best pineapple that I have ever tasted!

Video
In the video there a bunch of people in an elevator and they all start to play the music that they want to hear out of their own cell phones and they are all trying to be the loudest, but then a guy with a huge boom box comes in and plays his music but then puts his headphones in so only he can hear it. I think that the director made this video to show that every one is different and everyone wants to have what they like but its not always what's best. You have to be respectful of others no matter who you are and when you are respectful and nice to them then they will be respectful and nice to you as well. As soon as the guy with the biggest music player came into the elevator everyone else got quiet but he was the one who made them all realize how childish they were being and that they didn't need to blast their music to get respect. I think that the audience of this video was supposed to be teenagers and adults because little kids wouldn't understand the message and usually people in life that think that they need to be in charge are adults and teenagers. Also everyone in the video was and adult so I think that adults would relate more to people their own age and the director would have know that.

Third prompt
In the book that we read the author pointed out that in high school the teachers are usually generalists while in college they are specialists which means they know much more about the subject so you have to do a lot better when you write. Another thing that is mentioned in the book is that college work requires a lot more focus and attention, you cant just go through it really fast and not really think about it. Something that I noticed while being in college is that they professors are much more specific in the work that they give you. They know exactly what they want from you and they make sure that you know exactly what they want from you so that you can do the very best that you can. Another difference that I noticed is that a lot of professors aren't as hard as everyone makes it seem like they should be. They actually want you to do well so they are generous with things and they are going to help you with your writing and anything else, you just have to make the initiative and ask them.

Poe
I think that Poe did not have a very good life at all. In the first story that we read "Tell Tale Heart" Poe wrote about a man who had a deep hatred for an old man because of a physical feature of his. I think that this relates to his life because when we researched him we fond out that he was a major critique of people, in many ways. The way that the wrote, or the way that they acted or any other aspect of their lives, and he fixated on that just like he did on the old mans eye in the story. Another thing that I noticed from that story was that Poe made it so that the narrator fixated on the dead man's heartbeat and it eventually made him go crazy. In the second story he talked about death and he also did this in all of the stories that we read by him. We found that death was a big part of Poe's life, his mother and wife both died at young ages, and it really had an impact on him and his writing. In the third story "The Black Cat" the main character blamed everything bad that happened in his life on the black cat that they had found and took in to their home. I think that Poe had a bad life but he didn't know why his life turned out that way so he tried to find every possible reason that he could to blame it on everyone or everything else.
